The Usual Suspects II: McAleer Faces off Cocker

Cathy McAleer is fighting Kylie Cocker at The Usual Suspects II on Sunday February 5 in Newtownards, Northern Ireland.

The Usual Suspects II is an international kickboxing show promoted by Billy Murray. The five-fight program headlines the gala at Queens Hall. The WKN welterweight prestige bout Johnny ‘Swift’ Smith (Northern Ireland) vs Camilo Villada Posada (Spain) is on the top of the bill.

ProKick fighter out of Belfast Cathy McAleer features on the main card. She was looking forward to square off with Alba D’Ambra in the co-headline event. However the athlete of Rome’s EFT gym is no longer a part of the show.

“Change of opponent for Belfast’s Cathy McAleer – the karate queen was to face Italian Alba D’Ambra from the ETF gym in Rome but yesterday promoter Billy Murray received and email from the D’Ambra team stating she will not be travelling to Belfast to fight Cathy,” says the press release on Wednesday.

“The WKN and the ProKick team worked tirelessly to secure a new challenge, and we have. The famous WKN kickboxing Team Noel from Malta came up with a challenger by way of Maltese black-belter 22 year-old Kylie Cocker. The match is made at Low-kick style at 55 kg.”

Also on the card Jake McCreedy is taking on Ivan Jesus Ruiz Batista of Spain in the amateur welterweight match. In addition, Michael Swann and Cathal Dunne will square the differences in their second encounter. Last September the youngster out of Belfast earned the victory over his Athlone’s vis-a-vis, who since has been looking to take a revenge. In conclusion Samantha Robb completes the main card. The name of her opponent is not yet revealed.

The program at The Usual Suspects II also includes a series of novice fighters. The first-time competitors will taste the full contact action in the under-card.
