Girl Power Kickboxing Tournament Locked & Loaded

Female kickboxing tournament Girl Power airs live tonight on SFR Sport 5.

Girl Power is a one night international kickboxing tournament. The 8-woman contest starts a new series produced by the Bigger’s Better Boxing on European television. The head of the promotion is Jean-Christophe Courreges. In addition the World Kickboxing Network is a backbone of the organization.


Female fighters will challenge for a prestigious WKN belt. The fast-paced featherweight bouts will go ahead at 3 x 2 minute rounds. The extra round applies in the case of a draw in the final. The rules are oriental (K-1). Execution of a spinning back fist is also in use.

The official weigh-in ceremony was conducted yesterday. Hall of Famer Steve Smoger held the drawing procedure.

In the first quarterfinal Laura Follereau (58,6 kg) of France is fighting Marina Spasic (60,3 kg) of Serbia. In the second, another French fighter Mallaury Kalachnikoff (59,3 kg) is taking on Hungarian Judit Laura Foldvari (60,3 kg). The third round squares two fighters out of Belgium, Ilham Garmal (60 kg) and Nathalie Visschers (58,5 kg). In conclusion Zorka Stojanovic (60 kg) of Bosnia is going up against Iliana Metodieva Gelebova (60,1 kg) of Bulgaria.

As well as the IBHOF referee out of the United States Steve Smoger, the list of officials includes the WKN coordinator for Germany Klaus Hagemann and a former WBC lightweight international champion from France Bruno Wartelle. The president of the World Kickboxing Network, Stephane Cabrera also attends the gala. The ring announcer is a famed French journalist who is also a former boxing producer for Eurosport, Jean-Philippe Lustyk.

Girl Power kickboxing tournament is available to watch live on French sports network SFR Sport 5, Friday 10th February 2017. The show starts at 20:00 (UTC+01). Municipal Sports Hall Ivan Vazov in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria accommodates the event.
