Manny Pacquiao puts his WBO welterweight belt on the line when he faces off Jeff Horn on Sunday April 23.

The Pacquiao vs Horn championship bout was reportedly confirmed late January. The place to host the event remained unknown. Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane was presumed as the venue most likely to hold the match. The potential meeting points in the Middle East and the US also featured on the list.

On Sunday February 12 Manny Pacquiao posted on his Twitter “See you in UAE for my next fight. #TeamPacquiao”. Furthermore, a day early Michael Koncz, known as Filipino boxer’s adviser, had held a press conference in Abu Dabi. According to Gulf News he said that they “have executed the agreement and 100 per cent the fight will be here in the UAE”.

This morning Courier Mail quotes Horn’s promoter Dean Lonergan who said that “the only person authorized to promote Manny Pacquiao is Bob Arum.” He advises that until Top Rank CEO tells him differently they are “continuing with that aim of having the fight at Suncorp Stadium on April 23”.

In addition, early Monday February 13 two polls have been posted on Pacquiao’s Facebook and account on Twitter. “Who would you like Pacquiao to fight in the UAE?” is inquired on Facebook. “Who do you want me to fight next in the UAE?” Pacquiao is asking on Twitter.

This certainly adds to the confusion. The list of answers to chose from comprises the names of Amir Khan, Jeff Horn, Terence Crawford and Kell Brook. The field “Other” provides users on Facebook an opportunity to type in the name that does not feature on the proposed answers.
