Famed Australian fighter out of the Gold Coast jetted to Perth for the first time. He flew across the country to face off a tough Belarusian. John Wayne Parr and Dmitry Valent battled out for the WKN middleweight belt. The championship headlined Perth Muay Thai promotion “Domination 4”. Curtin Stadium accommodated a sensational gala on Saturday, March 13, 2010.
Promoters of the show were Darren Curovic and Blair Smith. Coordinator of the event was Parviz Iskenderov. President of the World Kickboxing Network, Stephane Cabrera traveled from France to assist the event.
The five-round contest went on distance. The judges scored the fight for Australian: 50-45, 49-47, 48-47. Consequently “The Gunslinger” became a new WKN middleweight champion of the world.
In addition, Rob Powdrill stopped Ricardo Miranda and became a super light heavyweight Australian champion. Frank Giorgi defeated Dusan Salva earning a super middleweight national belt. Toby “The Weapon” Smith, Caley Reece, Roy Wills and Jordan Godtfredsen also featured on the card.
In conclusion, “Domination 4” earned a status of the biggest Australian muaythai show of the year. The event has lifted the level of promotions in the State. It has also put WA on the map of the “Art of the Eight Limbs” globally.
Ever since “Domination” keeps evolving. It has held numerous shows with some of the biggest names Australia has ever produced, including Nathan “Carnage” Corbett. As a result the organization promotes already 19th event this May.
Neither Australian star John Wayne Parr has hung up his gloves. Since then he has gone through 21 challenge. Now 40, his next bout is scheduled at Bellator Kickboxing this April in Italy. Belarusian fighter Dmitry Valent has also continued a prominent career. He competes in Europe, Thailand and China.
