Derrick Lewis says he wants to face off Mark Hunt in his next fight.
American MMA fighter Derrick Lewis (18-4-1) has stopped his country-fellow Travis Browne (18–6–1) last Saturday in Canada. “The Black Beast” earned the Round 2 KO victory with punches. As a result he has recorded a sixth consecutive victory. The bout headlined the UFC Fight Night held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In addition it was proclaimed as the “Fight of the Night”.
Post-fight, answering the question who he would like to fight next, Lewis stated the name of Mark Hunt with no hesitation. “I’ll fight [Fabricio] Werdum but Mark Hunt is going to come out and fight. He’s just like me,” FOX Sports quotes the fighter who is ranked No.8 in the division, one spot below Hunt.
“He’s going to come out and fight, it ain’t going to be a boring fight. He ain’t gonna hold me or nothing like that.”
“He’s just going to come out swinging and banging like I always do.”
Talking to FS1 Lewis also added that he needs some rest time to enjoy, before he steps in the octagon again. He advised that for at least three months he doesn’t want a call from the UFC.
“I’ve just been fighting every other month or every two months. I just want to clear my head a little bit,” he said. “After my last fight, I wanted some time off but my coaches called me at a bad time when everybody was drunk and asked me if I wanted to fight Travis and I said yeah I’ll fight him.”
“This time right here I just want some time off, just relax my mind. Because I think by fighting constantly all the time and it’s just bringing problems at my house because I’m so serious with everyone.”
