Jason Wilnis vs Simon Marcus III headlines Glory 40 kickboxing promotion on April 29 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Dutch Jason Wilnis (30-6-1) is a current promotion’s inaugural middleweight kickboxing champion. Canadian Simon Marcus (45-3-2) is a number one contender as well as a former title holder.
The pair previously fought twice. Marcus took a split decision in Dubai in 2015. Wilnis earned a TKO victory in Round 3 last year in New Jersey and also became a new champion. Since their latest encounter Marcus defeated Dustin Jacoby and Wang Shaohua. Wilnis defended his belt against Israel Adesanya. The pair will square the differences in the main event of Glory 40 Copenhagen.
Local competitor Niclas Larsen is fighting in the co-main event. The name of his opponent is not yet revealed. The program comprises a four-man lightweight tournament. In the first semi-final Alex Pereira of Brazil is facing off Burim Rama of Sweden. Yousri Belgaroui of Tunis is taking on Agron Preteni of Croatia in the second.
In addition Super Fight Series on UFC Fight Pass includes four bouts. Freddy Kemayo of France squares off with Imad Hadar of Morocco. Josh Jauncey of Canada battles out against Antonio Gomez of Spain. Also on the card local Mohammed El-Mir. The names of the rest of the fighters have not yet been announced.
The Glory Kickboxing league has held the 29th show in Copenhagen last April. The organization promotes its next event on March 25. Cedric Doumbe takes on Yoann Kongolo in the main event at Glory 39 Brussels.
