Kickboxing: On the Way to WKN World Cup 2017

WKN Kickboxing World Cup 2017 is held this Friday in Tehran.

Twelve nations participate in Kickboxing World Cup 2017. The event is a historic happening in Iran. Moreover, the number one federation, World Kickboxing Network is a backbone of the event. Reza Hejazi is a promoter in Tehran. Chris Christodoulou of Cyprus is the championship supervisor.

The format is a one night eight-man welterweight kickboxing tournament. Prestigious WKN belt at stake. The quarterfinals and semi-finals will go ahead at 3 x 2 minute rounds. The championship bout is a five-round contest.

Mohammed Hossein Daroudian represents the country host. Askgar Hosejni comperes for Afghanistan. Christopher Rotin comes from Malta. Eric N’Singa represents Congo. The card also includes Ilan Durand of France and Mattia Peddio of Italian Sardinia. Andreas Charitou of Cyprus and Tsuyoshi Haruno of Japan conclude the list of participants.

Furthermore, four international titles are challenged on the night. Iranian athletes face off opponents from Germany, Slovakia, Vietnam and Thailand. The bouts are scheduled at 3 x 3 minute rounds.

Sina Karimian goes up against Neil Aquino. The pair is fighting for the super cruiserweight belt. Also Vahid Mahdavi squares off with Denis Lamanec. The super light heavyweight title is on the line. Armin Ebrahimpour takes on Anucha Kanthongtab in the middleweight clash, as well as Mohammad Siahat Maradi faces off Pong Chuenchun in the super middleweight encounter.

Today the WKN have posted a set of photos on its profile on Instagram. It shows the participants on their way for Gold. In addition, the athletes are accompanied by the well-known characters out of the combat sports, such as Osman Yigin, Klaus Hagemann and Noel Mercieca.
