Throwback Muay Thai: Rob Powdrill vs Alex James


Rob Powdrill and Alex James met at Domination 6 muaythai event in Perth.

Domination 6: Carnage vs Lepich was held on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Herb Graham recreation centre in Mirrabooka, WA accommodated the event. The happening marked the second journey of Nathan Corbett to Perth. Australian fighter, also known as “the elbow master”, faced off Piotr Lepich of Poland. Rob Powdrill and Alex James battled out in the co-main event.

Two best super light heavyweights out of Western Australia squared off in the WKN prestige match. The fighters have produced the five rounds of the all-round muaythai action. The judges verdict proclaimed the majority decision in favor of Rob Powdrill.

After that bout, the careers of both men have evolved. Among everything Powdrill is the man who has caused the 2014 biggest upset in Australian boxing. He stopped London Olympian Damien Hooper of Queensland inside 21 seconds. Similarly in 2012 James earned the WMC cruiserweight national title. He earned a unanimous decision against the favorite in the division Gaz Rees of Australian Capital Territory.

The promoters of “Domination 6 Muaythai” were Darren Curovic and Blair Smith. The coordinator of the event was Parviz Iskenderov, representing the World Kickboxing Network.

In the main event Nathan Corbett stopped Piotr Lepich in the first round. Also on the card Danial Williams defeated Jesse Coruna. Roy Wills defeated Jordan Godtfredsen as well as Toby Smith defeated Mike Demetriou. In addition the program comprised a series of other rating bouts. The show was broadcasted on FOX Sports.
