Throwback Muay Thai: Nathan Corbett vs Pavel Zhuravlev

Domination 5: Carnage vs. Caiman for WKN World heavyweight Muay Thai title.

Muay Thai promotion Domination 5 was held as many as seven years ago. The event promoted on September 19, 2010 in Perth, marked the first time when arguably the world’s best muaythai heavyweight Nathan “Carnage” Corbett paid a visit to Western Australia.

The “Elbow Master” traveled from the Gold Coast to take on Pavel Zhuravlev aka “Caiman”. The latter is one of the Top 5 heavyweights out Ukraine, who at that time was the runner-up a the Bigger’s Better 1 Nicosia. The contest was for the vacant WKN World heavyweight title in Muay Thai.

Scheduled for five-rounds encounter ended prior the final bell. Zhuravlev has indeed formed a solid opposition. However Corbett appeared in his traditional style of domination, executing his trademark, devastating elbow strikes. The actual stoppage came from a knee in Round 4. As a result Australian was crowned a new champion in the division. Since then he has defended a prestigious WKN title three times.

Domination 5 was held at the Herb Graham Recreation Centre in Mirrabooka, WA. The promoters of the event were Darren Curovic and Blair Smith. The championship supervisor was Parviz Iskenderov, representing the World Kickboxing Network.

In addition, Domination 5 made history as the first gala in Australia to showcase the athletes out of Caribbean Islands battling out on its soil. The team from Guadeloupe traveled across the Planet to face off Perth fighters. The bout between Alex James and Eddy Leno ended in the third round proclaiming Australian as the winner by TKO due to a broken arm. The contest between Mitch Seth and Loris Audoui went in favor of the representative of the country host.
