Ebrahim Khazaei becomes WKN Asian middleweight champion

World Kickboxing Network made its return to the birth place of the “Art of Eight Limbs” on Sunday September 17. The event held at Ramkhamhaeng Stadium in Bangkok presented the fourth edition of the new WKN promotions in Thailand.

It was the second show for the year, following Intercontinental championship in June. In 2016 the organization promoted two Muay Thai events in Pattaya and Phuket.

The highlight of the event this past Sunday featured Iranian Ebrahim Khazaei (13-3) up against Japanese Tsuyoshi Haruo (17-5). The pair challenged for WKN Asian middleweight Muay Thai title.

The scheduled for five rounds contest ended prior the final bell. It was all over in the second round, when the Iranian athlete sent his opponent to the canvas with the head kick.

In 2000’s WKN has promoted a famed “Grand Tournoi” series, collaborating with a well-known Muay Thai promoter out of Thailand Songchai Ratanansuban of “S-1 promotion”. The events were held in Thailand, Arab Emirates, England, France and Switzerland.

A new series of Muay Thai events in Thailand is organized by the team of Iranian promoters, which includes Tofan Pirani and Hamid Reza Hejazi. The events follow the historic Kickboxing World Cup held in Iran in March.

Other events featuring WKN championship bouts are expected to take place in Thailand and Iran this year. We will have more information as soon as it becomes available.
