WKN World Championship in Spain

Spanish Carlos Coello is expected to face Portuguese Joao Goncalves on December 16 in Ponferrada, World Kickboxing Network announced on Wednesday. The pair will challenge for a vacant WKN World bantamweight title in Muay Thai at the event promoted by Diego Vazquez.

Born in Cadiz, the 27-year-old Carlos Coello has been based in Thailand for three years. Over the course of his career he has earned WMC Spanish title, as well as WBC International belt. His resume includes the battles against such Thai fighters as Anantasak and Payakdam, just to name a couple. He has also fought at the famed Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, as well as appeared at such events as Thai Boxe Mania in Turin.

Coello recently shared a video blog on Facebook. Announcing the upcoming contest, he has outlined that “so far this is the most important fight” of his career.

His opponent Joao Goncalves is as well an active Muay Thai competitor. He went up against such fighters as Alan Almeida, Carlos Barbera, Nelson Moreira, among others.

The upcoming show is the third WKN promotion in Spain this year. It follows two Hombres de Honor MMA fight nights held in June and February. Over the years the organization has held numerous events throughout the country, visiting such cities as Barcelona, Madrid, Cataluna, Lleida, as well as Balearic Islands, and others.
