The Battle 17: Kakoumpavas vs. Garaj

The Battle 17 by WKN takes place at Taekwondo Olympic Arena in Athens on Sunday December 10. The event marks the return of world-class kickboxing to Greece, featuring the A-list representatives of the country-host up against international opponents.

One of the international match ups has been revealed on Thursday. Slovakian super welterweight Pavol Garaj travels to Athens to face local favorite Meletis Kakoumpavas.

Greece Meletis Kakoumpavas fought the likes of Samo Petje, Florian Markou, Noah Paratoulay. Known as “The Nightmare”, in 2016 he has also won the title of European champion. His next opponent is, as much or as little, but a prominent competitor out of Slovakia.

Pavol Garaj is coming off the decision victory against Czech Matous Kohout taken at Simply the Best 16 Kosice mid October. Over the course of his career he has also earned WKN World super welterweight title, when he similarly defeated Bulgarian Stefan Stankov in 2014. His resume also includes the battles against Belgian David van Branteghem, French Abdallah Mabel, Armenian Harut Grigorian, among others.

The Kakoumpavas vs. Garaj bout is scheduled for three rounds in oriental kickboxing (K-1).
