World Muaythai Angels
The second round of the women’s contest “Muay Thai Angels” was held this past Saturday November 18 at U-Tapao International Airport in Phla, Thailand. The televised event featured a series of international bouts with the representatives of the country-host, as well as the competitors out of England, USA, South Africa and Portugal. The video report of the recent show was shared by Thai channel Thairath on YouTube.
Among the bouts the winner of WMA 2014 Thai Chommanee Sor Taehiran earned a unanimous decision against Lucy Payne of England. Maria Lobo of Portugal similarly defeated Natalie Morgan of the US. South African Yolanda Schmidt defeated anther representative of the country-host Namtarn Por Muengpetch, also by decision.
Muay Thai Angels is a single-elimination tournament at the 57 kg weight divison. During the season the athletes compete in a knockout system. The defeated fighter of each contest is immediately eliminated, and the winner advances closer to the final.
The date and place of the final, as well as the championship match-up is expected to be announced in the near future. We will have more information as soon as it becomes available.
