Glory 48: VanNostrand wins interim belt, Thomas takes tournament

Glory 48 was held this past Friday December 1 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. The event comprised two chapters, featuring the ten-fight international kickboxing bill, with two titles contested on the night.

In the main event at Glory 48 New York Kevin VanNostrand and Anvar Boynazarov battled out for the interim featherweight title. The scheduled for five rounds bout ended prior the final bell. VanNostrand earned the victory by knockout in the first round (knee to the body), claiming the belt.

The fight card also included the four-man middleweight qualifying tournament. In one of the semi-final bouts Robert Thomas went up against Wayne Barrett, scoring a unanimous decision. Another semi-final bout, between Matt Baker and Mike Lemaire, also went the distance, but with the inclusion of an extra round. Mike Lemaire was proclaimed as the winner by a unanimous decision and faced Thomas in the final. The latter took all tournament, scoring the victory by knockout in the third round with overhand right.

In the main event at Glory 48 Super Fight Series Tiffany van Soest took on Anissa Meksen, in defense of her super bantamweight belt. Anissa Meksen was proclaimed as the winner by a unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47), consequently becoming a new title holder.

Also on the card middleweight Chris Camozzi defeated Kyle Weickhard, taking the second round TKO victory. In addition, lightweight Elvis Gashi scored a unanimous decision against Nate Richardson. The complete Glory 48 results can be found below.
