Badr Hari vs Hesdy Gerges headlines GLORY 51 Rotterdam

Badr Hari vs Hesdy Gerges 2

Badr Hari and Hesdy Gerges battle out in the main event of GLORY 51 Rotterdam held on March 3, the promotion revealed on Tuesday. The announcement follows the news earlier this month with “The Golden Boy” making his return to action after signing an exclusive multi-fight deal with the organization.

The pair has previously met once back in 2010, battling out at It’s Showtime Amsterdam. In the second round, Hari knocked Gerges down and kicked him while he was still on the ground. As a result Hari was disqualified and Gerges was pronounced as the winner of the contest.

The resume of Moroccan-Dutch Badr Hari includes both prestigious K-1 and It’s Showtime heavyweight titles. Over the course of his career he scored 92 knockouts, as well as the victories over such notable kickboxers as Peter Aerts, Gokhan Saki, Semi Schilt, Alistair Overeem.

Egyptian-Dutch Hesdy Gerges has as well faced some of the best in business. Among others, he went up against heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven, Daniel Ghita, Jamal Ben Saddik, Benjamin Adegbuyi, Ismael Londt and Anderson Silva.

In his most recent bout held last December, Hari faced Verhoeven, who was proclaimed as the winner by TKO in the second round due to arm injury of his opponent. Gerges was KO’d by Mladen Brestovac with left high kick in the first round at GLORY 45 Amsterdam in September.
