The 41-year-old Australian Muay Thai phenom John Wayne Parr is still full of fight. Although the odds may seem against him due to age, “The Gunslinger” still sends his opponents to the canvas. To date he earned 99 wins out of 131 fights, with 46 victories collected by way of knockout.
Mid last year Parr signed a three-fight deal with Bellator Kickboxing. He made his debut in April in Turin, taking the victory by knockout in the second round against local Nando Calzetta. In December he returned to Italy, battling out in Florence, where he stopped the representative of the country-host Piergiulio Paolucci in the third round.
“I have one more fight on my contract. But hopefully I can score another impressive win, knockout, and get an extension for a few more fights,” Parr told FIGHTMAG on Tuesday.
“[I am] in talks with Bellator currently trying to secure a fight. So I can ‘hopefully’ score my 100th win on their promotion.”
“I just got a pay raise, so [I’m] a very happy man at the moment. Bellator is without doubt the most professional and exciting promotion I have ever fought for and blessed to be part of the family.”
Caged Muay Thai
When asked about the next event of his “Caged Muay Thai” promotion in Brisbane, Parr said that he first wanted to book a fight at Bellator Kickboxing. “Not going to commit until I have Bellator locked in,” he said.
Over the course of his career John Wayne Parr won 10 world titles. His resume includes the victories over such Muay Thai legends as Yodsanklai Fairtex, Orono Por.Muang Ubon, Jean-Charles Skarbowsky, among others.
