Thai Fight Bangkok: Saenchai vs. Mukhanzhan

Muay Thai promotion “Thai Fight” starts the season on Saturday January 27. The event held at Bangkok Metropolitan Administration airs live on TV, featuring the championship round of three single-elimination tournaments at 67 kg, 70 kg and 72.5 kg weight classes.

Following the event trailer, which hit the stream late last month, FIGHTMAG learned the names of competitors battling out in the super lightweight tournament finale. Thai star Saenchai PKSaenchaimuaythaigym faces Bauyrbek Mukhanzhan of Kazakhstan in the scheduled for three rounds bout.

In Muay Thai circuits Saenchai is the man who needs no introduction. Over the course of his career he won a prestigious Lumpinee championship in four different weight classes, as well as defeated the A-list farangs [Muay Thai fighters not from Thailand]. He was also rumored to train shoulder to shoulder with MMA great Georges St-Pierre, and possibly appear inside the Octagon. Last month Saenchai won the Thai Fight tournament semi-final, scoring the decision against Canadian Abdou Haddad in Chiang Mai, consequently securing his spot in the final round.

Mukhanzhan entered the tournament as a “wild card”. He replaced Iranian Amir Naseri taking the semi-final bout against Brazilian Henrique Muller on a short notice. Winning the contest also by decision he advanced to the final, where he goes up against the “King of Muay Thai” Saenchai at the upcoming show in Bangkok.

Among other bouts, Thai Saensatharn meets Naimjon Tuhtaboyev of Uzbekistan in the welterweight (70 kg) tournament final. Chanajon takes on his Thai-fellow Saiyok Pumpanmuang in the super welterweight (72.5 kg) championship.

The fight card also includes a series of super fights. The current lineup can be found below.
