International kickboxing returns to Belfast on February 17 with Saturday Fight Night Special. Promoted by Billy Murray the Prokick event takes place at Stormont Hotel, featuring the leading representatives of Northern Ireland up against international opponents, as well as a series of amateur and novice competitors. Topping up the bill – a prestigious World Kickboxing Network title is on the line.
The highlight of the event features local Rowena Bolt (6-3-0) up against Kerry Doyle of Ireland. The pair squares off in a four-round flyweight bout, contesting for Irish amateur title in Full Contact.
Over the course of her career “Prokicker” Rowena Bolt defeated Julia Chatellier, Naomi Kongolo, among others. She has also fought the likes of Ceara O’Toole, Keri Webster, Eleny Gonzalez. The upcoming bout is her first title challenge.
Kerry Doyle represents the Toppro Gym in Carlow. She is a two-time IKF Irish champion.
The main event is a catchweight bout (53 kg) between the representative of the country-host, “Karate Queen” Cathy McAleer and Martyna Ciaskowska of Poland. The WKN International match up is scheduled for three rounds in oriental kickboxing (K-1 rules). Also on the main card welterweight Johnny Smith faces Eric McCormack in All-Ireland prestige bout, and super welterweight Salman Shariati meets Polish Patryn Klak.
In addition the undercard was topped up by a super lightweight clash between Cathal Dunne and Ian Callaghan. The change in the roster features Matthew Kerr who now takes on Bryan Bitter. The latter replaces previously announced Joe Campbell. The current lineup can be found below.
