UFC 222: Cyborg vs. Kunitskaya

UFC 222 was held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas last Sunday March 4. The event featured twelve bouts with the women’s championship clash on the top of the bill.

In the main event Cris Cyborg made her second successful featherweight title defense, scoring the first round TKO win with punches against Yana Kunitskaya. The co-main event also ended in the first round when featherweight Brian Ortega knocked out Frankie Edgar.

Also on the Pay-Per-View card bantamaweight Sean O’Malley earned a unanimous decision against Andre Soukhamthath, and heavyweight Andrei Arlovski similarly defeated Stefan Struve. In addition, Ketlen Vieira took a split decision against Cat Zingano at women’s bantamweight.

Up next is UFC 223 which takes place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 8. The event features the interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson up against Khabib Nurmagomedov, battling it out for undisputed lightweight belt. The contest follows women’s strawweight championship rematch between the current titleholder Rose Namajunas and the former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
