Banchamek Gym opens in Buakaw Village
Famed Muay Thai fighter Buakaw Banchamek relocates his training camp from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. A new gym is open to public starting on April 21, in the place known as “Buakaw Village”.
According to reports the decision was made by Buakaw and the gym manager Teerawat Yioyim. The latter has previously expressed his deslike of the polluted Kingdom’s capital, which makes it harder for the elite level athletes to train. A new location is also expected to attract more public, due to its closeness to an international airport.
Buakaw Banchamek, (formerly Por. Pramuk) is arguably the most renowned Muay Thai fighter from Thailand. He is a two-time champion of the prestigious K-1 World Max (2004, 2006). In addition his resume includes WMC World juniour middleweight title, as well as the victories against Jomhod Kiatadisak, Andy Souwer, Jean-Charles Skarbowsky, Andrei Kulebin, John Wayne Parr, among others.
Over the years Banchamek Gym produced numerous champions, including IFMA Gold-medalist Muensang Suppachai commonly known as Superbon. Several world-class fighters such as GLORY kickboxer Simon Marcus, The World Games 2017 champion Vitaly Gurkov, among others, have trained shoulder to shoulder with Buakaw.
