Terence Crawford TKO’s Jeff Horn, becomes new WBO WW champion
The Australian first string boxer Jeff Horn went up against American star Terence Crawford this past weekend at MGM Grand Las Vegas. Stepping inside the square circle in the US for the first time in his professional career, “The Hornet” was making his second defense of the WBO World Welterweight title against the mandatory opponent.
Horn claimed the belt against famed Manny Pacquiao last July. He made his first successful title defense against Gary Corcorcan in December.
“The King” of junior welterweight Crawford unified all four major title belts last August. Squaring off against Horn, he moved up a weight class.
The scheduled for twelve rounds Horn vs. Crawford championship bout ended prior the final bell. The “Bud” took the win by way of TKO in the ninth round. As a result he became a new WBO Welterweight title holder.
In addition, Crawford remains undefeated, updating his record to 33-0, 24 KO. Horn faced the first defeat in his career, 18-1-1, 12 KO.
