UFC 226 weigh-ins: Chiesa misses weight
Stipe Miocic defends his heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 226. The event takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 8 (July 7 in the US).
At the official weigh-in ceremony conducted the day before the fight show, the champion showed 242.5. The challenger, who is also a current light heavyweight champion, weighed-in at 246. The superfight to be remembered is scheduled for five rounds.
The co-main event is a heavyweight battle between Francis Ngannou and Derrick Lewis. The former heavyweight title contender out of France tipped the scales at 253. The representative of the country-host was 264.5.
Also on the main card Paul Felder (170) faces Mike Perry (170.5) at welterweight and Gokhan Saki (206) takes on Khalil Rountree Jr. (205) at heavyweight.
In addition, lightweight Anthony Pettis (156) battles out against Michael Chiesa (157.5). The latter “missed weight and will be fined 30% of his purse. The bout will proceed as scheduled,” stated in the report by the promotion. The full fight card and weigh-in results can be found below.
