Manny Pacquiao vs. Lucas Matthysse for WBA (Regular) welterweight title

Manny Pacquiao (59-7-2, 38 KOs) goes through the ropes this coming Sunday July 15 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Famed Filipino boxer faces Argentine welterweight Lucas Matthysse (39-4-0, 36 KOs, 1 NC). The latter is the defending WBA (Regular) champion. The bout is scheduled for 12 rounds.

Pacquiao hasn’t fought since last July when he lost his WBO World Welterweight title against Jeff Horn. Matthysse is coming off the eighth-round knockout win against Tewa Kiram, and the fifth-round TKO win against Emmanuel Taylor.

Over the course of his career Manny Pacquiao earned world titles in eight different weight divisions. His resume includes the wins against Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, among others. Among other legends of The Sweet Science, he also went up against Floyd Mayweather Jr, facing a defeat by decision.

Lucas Matthysse has held WBC Silver light welterweight title, as well as WBA Inter-Continental and WBO International welterweight titles. He defeated the likes of Roberto Ortiz, Ruslan Provodnikov, Danny GarcĂ­a and others.
