Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather 2
Fresh off the win against Lucas Matthysse this past weekend in Kuala Lumpur, Manny Pacquiao told reporters he would again square off against Floyd Mayweather, if the latter “wants to come back in boxing”. As a result, it appears that a rematch against Jeff Horn, who has recently suggested “Pacman” the second outing, is not currently on the table.
“Mayweather? If he decides to go back to boxing then that is the time we are going to call the shots,” Pacquiao said after his TKO win against Matthysse. “I have the belt [WBA ‘regular’ welterweight title], so it’s up to him. If he wants to come back in boxing let’s do a second one.”
The 50-fight undefeated “Money” Mayweather was last seen inside the square circle last August when he stopped UFC star Conor McGregor in an unprecedented combat sports cross over matchup. Before that, he defeated Andre Berto by decision in September 2015.
Horn, who was stopped by Terence Crawford last month, is likely to face Anthony Mundine end of this year. At this stage, it is unclear whether the second fight against Pacquiao will ever happen.
The first bout between Pacquiao and Mayweather was held in May 2015, reportedly exceeding 4.6 million pay-per-view buys. Dubbed as the “Fight of the Century” the contest went the distance, with the latter taking a unanimous decision.
Pacquiao is 39. and Mayweather is 41.
Would the latter come out of a retirement, again… to face off an old rival, who he has previously defeated? It is certainly up to him.
Is there any money on the table?
