UFC Moscow Fight Night

The Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its Russian debut on September 15 with UFC Fight Night 136 held at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow. The main event for the upcoming show has been formally announced on Friday featuring “The Super Samoan” Mark Hunt up against the representative of the country-host Aleksei “The Boa Constrictor” Oleinik.

In his most recent outing Mark Hunt (13-12-1, 1 NC) suffered a defeat by decision against Curtis Blaydes, when the pair squared off in the co-headline bout at UFC 221 in Perth in February. Earlier in his MMA career “The Super Samoan” defeated such legends as Wanderlei Silva and Mirko Cro Cop, just to name a couple.

In addition, his resume includes a series of notable kickboxing wins during the era of original K-1.

Alexey Oleynik (56-11-1) is coming off a submission win against Junior Albini earned at UFC 224 in Rio in May. Last November he suffered a TKO defeat against Blaydes, which followed a two-fight win streak against Travis Browne and Viktor Pesta.

The Hunt vs. Oleinik fight is scheduled for five rounds.

“We’re not going to bury him if he’s out there winning fights,” Dana White

Topping up the bill, ranked No.8 in the heavyweight class, Hunt, might get a new UFC deal on the table. According to Daily Telegraph UFC President Dana White said that the promotion might “even look at renewing his contract”.

“Listen, Mark Hunt has been a little nutty, but he’s also a fighter who has done some amazing things,” White said. “And we’re in the fight business. So we’re not going to bury him if he’s out there winning fights. We will put him in good fights and even look at renewing his contract.”

Other match ups for UFC Fight Night in Moscow are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
