UFC 230: Ronaldo Souza faces David Branch
UFC 230 takes place at the Madison Square Garden on November 4 (Nov. 3 in the US). On Wednesday the promotion announced two bouts presented on the card, featuring the Top 10 middleweight competitors.
In one of the bouts Yoel Romero squares off against Paulo Costa. Ranked No. 1 “Soldier of God” is coming off a decision defeat against the reigning champion in the 185-pound weight class Robert Whittaker. In his previous bout he stopped the former champion Luke Rockhold.
“The Eraser” Costa is riding a twelve-fight win streak. All of the victories he earned prior the final horn, in the first or second round. He is currently ranked No. 8 in the division.
The second bout features ranked N. 5 Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza up against ranked N. 7 David Branch.
“Hoping to put themselves in title contention this fall are Brazil’s Souza and New York’s Branch, two of the top veterans in the 185-pound weight class,” stated in the announcement. “Souza has won three of his last five, finishing Vitor Belfort, Tim Boetsch and Derek Brunson, while Branch, winner of 12 of his last 13, is coming off a first-round Performance of the Night knockout of Thiago Santos in April.”
