FISU Muay Thai World University Championship 2018

The fourth round of competition at FISU Muay Thai Uni Worlds in Pattaya featured 13 bouts. The programme comprised eleven male and two female contests.

The day “proved that when you give young athletes a chance, they really take it, as young students stepped up against more experienced opponents and claimed a place in the semi-finals and even finals in some cases,” International Federation of Muaythai Amateur reported. “It’s been the most exciting part of this tournament, as the students take hold of this ancient sport and make it their own.”

Among the bouts, at the 60 kg male division Artsem Vinnik of Belarus scored the decision against Argen Kerimbekov of Kyrgyzstan. In the same category Yerkhnat Ospan stopped the representative of the country-host Chaipat Rittichai in the first round. In addition, Spanish Laura de Blas de Pablo earned a decision against Russian Polina Matyushiwa in the women’s 54 kg class.

The representative of Australia Diandra Martin squares off against Thai Phaenphloi Saeaia on July 28. The pair meets in the women’s 63.5 kg bout.

FISU Muay Thai University World Championship is a seven-day sports fiesta held from 23 to 29 July at the Hard Rock Hotel in Pattaya, Thailand. The complete fight results are available on the official website of IFMA. The video of the bouts can be found on the organization’s YouTube channel.
