Diandra Martin wins Gold for Australia at FISU Muay Thai Uni Worlds
The culmination of FISU Muay Thai World University Championship in Pattaya, Thailand is the days of finals with the athletes battling out for Gold medals. The Saturday’s programme featured nine bouts comprising six male and three female contests.
Among the bouts, at the 60 kg male class Belarusian Artsem Vinnik earned the decision against Yerkhant Ospan of Kazakhstan. At the 67 kg category the representative of the country-host Kittisak Suksanguan similarly defeated Bekzhan Matysaev of Kyrgyzstan.
Australia has been represented by Diandra Martin of ACT who faced Thai Phaenphloi Saeaia. The scheduled for three rounds women’s contest at the 63.5 kg weight division ended prior the final bell. The representative of “Green and Gold” scored the TKO win in the first round.
Post-fight Martin told FIGHTMAG that she couldn’t be happier with her performance.
“It was an amazing experience. I couldn’t be happier with my performance. I was so nervous before the fight, but I listened to my coach Kieran [Walsh] and ended up finishing the fight in the first round,” said Martin.
