Andifita Mahery becomes the first World Kickboxing Network champion crowned in Indian Ocean
World Championship reached Indian Ocean this past Friday with the King of Kickboxing promotion held at the Gymnase De Labattoir in Dzaoudzi, Mayotte. The fight card included local and international competitors coming from Madagascar, Tanzania and Reunion Island.
Furthermore, the event made history. It was the first time when a prestigious World Kickboxing Network championship belt was contested in Indian Ocean.
In the main event the representative of Mayotte, Hirachidine Saindou went up against Andifita Mahery of Madagascar. The pair battled out for WKN World Welterweight title. The scheduled for five rounds championship bout went the distance and ended in favor of the latter, who earned the win by decision.
In the co-main event local Jerome Valla squared off against Saleh Abdallah of Tanzania. The pair contested for WKN InterContinental Welterweight title. After three rounds of action the home crowd favorite was awarded the title by decision.
Also on the card Pierre Voari of Madagascar scored the first-round stoppage win against Moussa Raphael of Tanzania, earning WKN Indian Ocean Welterweight regional title. In addition, Boris Silva of Reunion Island claimed the decision against another representative of Tanzania, Jumanne Simba, and received WKN Indian Ocean Super Welterweight strap. The women’s contest between Joice Ojina of Kenya and Larissa Razanamialy of Madagascar, was cancelled due to VISA issue.
Mayotte: King of Kickboxing was promoted by Abdallah Salim. WKN President Stephane Cabrera attended the event.
