IFMA Muay Thai Youth World Championships 2018
The third round of competition at IFMA Muay Thai Youth World Championships in Bangkok goes in history as “an exciting day with the youngest athletes battling it out in two rings, while their teenage peers face each other in another two”. The Olympic-system tournament event is held at the National Stadium in Bangkok from 2 to 10 August, with over 80 countries participating.
With 37 young athletes included in the roster, Team Australia saw six of its competitors winning their bouts, consequently advancing to the next level of competition.
“The Australian girls team had a great day, sending through six athletes to the next rounds,” International Federation of Muaythai Amateur reported. The list includes “last year’s stars Skylah Hamill and Emily Curtain.”
Among other standout teams, the USA sent through eight athletes from eight bouts. The Philippines earned four wins from six outings, while Moldova took two wins.
Topping up the bill, “the huge Russian team also continues towards the finals, taking 19 wins, stated in the report. “Three of those almost brought the roof down as supporters bid to out-play the musicians in 29-28 point crackers.” The results of the bouts can be found on IFMAlive.com.
