UFC 229: Volkov face off Lewis, Formiga up against Pettis, plus more expected

UFC 229 Khabib vs. McGregor

UFC 229 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on October 7 (Oct. 6 in the US). The event is headlined by arguably the biggest MMA fight of the year, featuring the undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov who defends his title against the former two-division titleholder Conor McGregor.

A set of other bouts expected on the card have been recently announced by a number of media outlets. Among the contests, a heavyweight battle between Alexander Volkov and Derrick Lewis is reportedly in the making.

As well, according to the reports, Sergio Pettis and Jussier Formiga have been rescheduled for the upcoming event. The pair was initially lined up to square off last January but the bout fell off when the latter pulled out from the contest.

In addition, the roster is expected to include Yana Kunitskaya up against Lina Lansberg at women’s bantamweight, and Tony Martin face off Ryan LaFlare at welterweight. The matchups are yet to be formally announced by the promotion.
