UFC 228 weigh-in results: Woodley & Till on weight, Montano vs Shevchenko off

UFC 228 Montano vs. Shevchenko cancelled

UFC 228 takes place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Sunday September 9 (AWST). The event is headlined by the defending welterweight champion Tyron Woodley up against the No.1 contender Darren Till.

The official weigh-in ceremony was conducted the day before the fight show. The champion tipped the scales at 170. The challenger was 169.

The UFC Flyweight title fight between Nicco Montano and Valentina Shevchenko, which was expected to serve as a co-main event, has been cancelled. The (now) former champion reportedly didn’t make it to the scales due to health issue. The latter made weight showing 124.5.

“As a precautionary measure, UFC flyweight Nicco Montano was transported to a medical facility Friday morning due to health concerns,” UFC stated.

During the UFC 228 weigh-ins on FS1, Dana White said that “the [flyweight] belt becomes vacated, so the title is vacated.”

“Obviously, Shevchenko is dying to fight for this title. So we’re in the process right now of trying to make another fight before the end of the year,” said UFC President.

The welterweight bout between Abdul Razak Alhassan (170.5) and Niko Price (170.5) was moved to the main card. The current UFC 228 lineup and weigh-in results can be found below.
