This year Asian Muay Thai Championship is held from 4 to 14 of December in Macau. Over 35 countries are expected to partake in the competition which is dubbed as the major event in the region.
Asian Muay Thai Championship is a single-elimination tournament, governed by the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA). The medals are contested in both, male and female classes, with the athletes competing in their respective weight divisions.
The Men’s class comprises nine categories from -48 kg to -75 kg. The women’s class features six divisions from -45 kg to – 60 kg.
On Wednesday the organization presented the official logo of the upcoming event (via Twitter). It features a mongkon held by two hands representing the unity around the tradition of Muay Thai.
“The logo reflects the history and beauty of Macau as well as the sport of muaythai. It ties together the sport and the colorful nature and cultural diversity of Macau,” said IFMA President Dr. Sakchye.
“The Asian Championships honours the traditions of the sport which is one of the muaythai pillars alongside Respect, Honour Excellence, and Fair Play,” said IFMA Director Charissa Tynan.
The registration for the event is now open at IFMA Live. More information is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
