Conor McGregor signs new fight-deal ahead of UFC 229 Khabib fight

UFC 229: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor

UFC 229 press conference was held on September 21 (AWST) in New York. The closed to public event marked the first time Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor came face to face. The pair meets in a grudge match inside the Octagon on October 7 (AWST) at T-Mobile Arena. The lightweight title is on the line.

The press conference featured traditionally loud speaking former two-division champion “The Notorious” McGregor and the current lightweight title holder “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov. A number of verbal shots were thrown back and forth between the two parties.

Among everything, several rounds went ahead regarding the infamous dolly throw incident, as well the confrontation between Nurmagomedov and McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov which preceded the event.

At the end of the press conference UFC President Dana White called the lightweights for a “faceoff” on the stage. The fighters were asked to not touch each other.

In addition, Darren Rovell of ESPN reported that Conor McGregor signed a new six-fight deal with the promotion. His newly launched “Proper Whiskey” has become a sponsor of every UFC event in which he competes. Topping up the bill “The Notorious” is also free to step inside the square circle if he decides to leave MMA for another boxing bout.
