UFC 232 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on December 30 (AWST). The event features a championship doubleheader with light heavyweight and women’s featherweight titles contested on the night.
Top of the bill features a return of Jon Jones who faces Alexander Gustafsson in a rematch, the promotion announced on Saturday. The pair battles out for UFC light heavyweight title. Their first encounter took place five years ago in Toronto, where “Bones”, champion at that time, earned a unanimous decision, breaking the record for the most consecutive light heavyweight title defenses.
The current light heavyweight titleholder is Daniel Cormier. He also holds a heavyweight strap, which he defends against Derrick Lewis in the main event of UFC 230 early next month at MSG in New York. “DC” is expected to be stripped of the light heavyweight title when Jones and Gustafsson face off inside the Octagon.
The co-main event at UFC 232 is a Champion vs. Champion superfight. Cris Cyborg defends her women’s featherweight strap facing the current bantamweight title holder Amanda Nunes.
