Prokick: Johnny Smith vs. Periklis Filippou
International kickboxing returns to Northern Ireland with the next “made in Prokick” event held tonight (Oct. 14) at Clayton Hotel Belfast. A Sunday-special presented by Billy Murray features a four-fight main card, which follows a seven-fight undercard.
In the main event the representative of the country-host Johnny Smith takes on Periklis Filippou of Cyprus. The pair squares off in the scheduled for three rounds welterweight bout. At the official weigh-in ceremony conducted a day before the fight show both athletes tipped the scales at 69.8 kg.
The co-main event features local Darren McMullan up against Nikos Kollias, also coming from Cyprus. The bout is scheduled for three rounds at catchweight with the limit of 75 kg. The fighters came in light, with McMullan showing 74.2 kg, while Kollias was 73.6 kg.
Also on the main card Matthew Kerr faces Scottish Shane Weir in a rematch, battling it out for WKN Celtic Super Welterweight title. In addition, Rowena Bolt meets Italian Valentina De Santis in the 50 kg catchweight bout.
