The World Kickboxing Network visited Northern Ireland this past Sunday (Oct. 14) with a fight-special presented by Billy Murray at Clayton Hotel Belfast. The “made in Prokick” event featured eleven bouts with local and international competitors.
In the main event welterweight Johnny Smith faced Periklis Filippou of Cyprus. The scheduled for three rounds WKN International matchup ended prior the final bell. The local fighter stopped his opponent in Round 2, consequently taking the win.
Also on the card Matthew Kerr squared off against Scottish Shane Weir for the second time. The pair battled out for WKN Celtic Super Welterweight title. The four-round Full Contact contest ended in favor of local athlete, who took the strap as well as the second win against the latter.
Among other matchups, Darren McMullan took a three-round unanimous decision against Nikos Kollias of Cyprus in their 75 kg catchweight bout. In addition, Rowena Bolt and Italian Valentina De Santis went a three-round distance, with their 50 kg catchweight bout ending in a draw.
