Rob Powdrill ‘argued, but rules are rules’
Rob Powdrill was expected to represent Australia at the upcoming Wu Lin Feng kickboxing event on November 4 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Perth all-rounder was lined up against Chinese fighter Wang Zhi Guo in the scheduled for three rounds super light heavyweight international feature-fight.
The matchup was announced by the promotion earlier this week, but fell off on Thursday, reportedly due to the Australian fighter not being cleared by the Commission after his previous outing. Earlier this month Powdrill went up against his Perth-fellow Glen Austin who stopped his opponent in the first round of their cruiserweight boxing bout.
“When fighting anyone, any time, any rules… It bites you in the ass. Took me 88 fights to see this,” Rob Powdrill told FIGHTMAG on Friday. “I’m all good. I argued that I’m physically sweet, but the rules are the rules.”
Over the course of his career Rob Powdrill earned world and subordinate titles in Muay Thai, kickboxing and boxing. In addition, he recorded 2-2 in professional MMA.
A potential date of his next bout is to be determined. More information is expected in the coming weeks.
