Kickboxing $150k knockout contest set at GLORY 62 Rotterdam

8-man heavyweight kickboxing tournament

Kickboxing event GLORY 62 takes place at Rotterdam Ahoy in the Netherlands on Saturday December 8. Top of the bill is a heavyweight tournament with $150,000 USD in total prize money (approx $211,500 AUD).


Eight international competitors are scheduled to battle it out in a single-elimination tournament. To take all the contender has to collect three victories during one evening going through quarterfinal, semifinal and final.

To date the promotion announced six out of eight fighters featured on the roster at GLORY 62 Rotterdam. In addition, the tournament reserve bout is presented on the Super Fight Series programme which comprises six bouts in total.

Romanian Benjamin Adegbuyi (31-5, 18 KO) and Moroccan-Belgian Jamal Ben Saddik (32-7 1 NC, 26 KO) have been announced as the tournament’s No.1 and No.2 seeds, respectively.

“The remaining six tournament slots will be randomly selected during a press conference slated for later this year,” reads the press release the promotion sent out on Wednesday. Dutch Jahfarr Wilnis (31-10-1, 8 KO) and Brazilian Guto Inocente (35-9, 17 KO) are available to be drawn as seed No. 3 or seed No 4.

The current pool of heavyweights comprising seeds five through eight, includes Australian Junior Tafa (20-3, 16 KO) and Slovakian Tomas Mozny (20-6-1, 6 KO) of WKN Top Team. Two other figthers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

“In addition to the $100,000 top prize for the tournament winner, the tournament runner-up will receive $30,000 and $10,000 will be awarded to each semifinal participant.”

The reserve bout features local Roel Mannaart (24-2, 12 KO) up against Russian Kirill Kornilov (7-2, 3 KO). The Super Fight Series card is headlined by a lightweight battle between Armenian-Belgian Marat Grigorian (59-11-2, 35 KO) and Angolan Christian Baya (60-8-1, 35 KO).
