UFC Argentina: Lamas vs. Elkins co-headlines in Buenos Aires

The Ultimate Fighting Championship makes Argentinian debut with Fight Night 140 held at Estadio Mary Teran de Weiss in Buenos Aires on November 18 (AWST). The event is headlined by a welterweight battle between Neil Magny and Santiago Ponzinibbio.

On Wednesday the promotion announced a co-main event bout featuring Ricardo Lamas up against Darren Elkins (via Twitter). The pair squares off in the scheduled for three rounds featherweight matchup.

“The Bully” Lamas (18-7) is coming of two defeats suffered against Mirsad Bektic and Josh Emmett. Before that he defeated Jason Knight and Charles Oliveira.

“The Damage” Elkins (26-4) has also lost his most recent bout against Alexander Volkanovski. The defeat snapped his six-fight win streak, which includes the victories against Michael Johnson, Dennis Bermudez, among others.

According to UFC.com, as of Wednesday morning the current lineup of Fight Night 140 comprises 12 bouts. Previously announced Alessio Di Chirico is no longer presented on the roster. He was expected to faces Jared Cannonier, but the bout fell off when the latter has been rescheduled for UFC 230 taking on David Branch.

The UFC 230 fight card was forced to be changed after Luke Rockhold withdrew from the co-main event bout against Chris Weidman due to injury. He was replaced by Ronaldo Souza, who was an initial opponent for Branch.

The current UFC Argentina fight card can be found below. The order of the bouts is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
