UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich was attacked by “someone close to her” and hospitalized for major injuries, including a broken orbital bone, in her hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii, TMZ Sports reported. A felony domestic violence investigation has been opened. No arrests were made to the moment.
Ostovich’s manager Brian Butler-Au at “Sucker Punch Ent.” has confirmed to ESPN that she was treated and released from the hospital. Due to received injuries her scheduled bout against Paige VanZant appears to be in jeopardy.
The pair of flyweights has been booked for UFC on ESPN+ 1 (Fight Night 143) taking place in Brooklyn, N.Y. on January 20 (AEDT).
In her previous bout in July Rachael Ostovich (4-4) was submitted by Montana De La Rosa in the third round. Last December she took the win against Karine Gevorgyan by submission in the first round.
Paige VanZant (7-4) was defeated by Jessica-Rose Clark (UD) in January, and submitted by Michelle Waterson in the first round also last December. He most recent win was in August 2016, when she stopped Bec Rawlings in the second round.
UFC is yet to make a statement.
