Sydney MMA fighter Nadia Kassem returns to Octagon
UFC 234 takes place at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on February 10. The event is headlined by defending middleweight champion Robert Whittaker up against ranked No. 4 Kevin Gastelum. A new addition to the fight card features women’s flyweight MMA bout between Nadia Kassem (5-0) and Montana De La Rosa (9-4).
Western Sydney’s Nadia Kassem makes her return to the Octagon at UFC 234 in Melbourne, taking on American Montana De La Rosa, Daily Telegraph reported. The Australian fighter confirmed the bout with a post on Instagram on Wednesday. The promotion is yet to formally announce the matchup.
Kassem made her UFC debut in November 2017 scoring a unanimous decision against Alex Chambers at Fight Night Sydney. Over the course of her career the 23-year-old Australian fighter has also defeated Jasita Yotawan, Leigha Aurisch, among others.
Montana De La Rosa, 23, is riding a three-fight win streak. In her previous outing she submitted Rachel Ostovich in the third round (RNC). Before that she defeated Christina Marks and Kathina Lower also by submission (armbar) in the first and third round (respectively).
UFC 234 also includes a middleweight battle between Israel Adesanya and Anderson Silva. In addition, a flyweight matchup between Kai Kara-France and Raulian Paiva has been recently announced for the fight card.
