The World Kickboxing Network returns to South American capital of kickboxing on February 16 with The Kumite 3 held in Esquina, Corrientes Province (Feb. 17 AEDT). The event marks the organization’s first visit to Argentina this year.
“Jorge Acero Cali [promoter of the event] recently visited Corrientes Province where he had a meeting with the Mayor of Esquina Mr Hugo Daniel Benitez. Esquina is a city in Corrientes Province and the capital of the Esquina Department,” reads the announcement Tuesday.
“Acero” Cali is the former World Kickboxing Super Cruiserweight champion. Last year he himself returned to action and went through the ropes testing himself in MMA for the second time in the main event of Simply the Best 20 Cordoba held in June. In November he presented STB 23 in San Luis which was the fifth episode of kickboxing series produced in Argentina over the course of 2018.
The matchups of the upcoming show are yet to be announced. The lineup is scheduled to feature a series of kickboxing and MMA bouts with the names of competitors expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Kumite 3 follows a recent edition of Bosch Tour held last month in Buenos Aires where Guido Otero defeated Emanuel Olmedo and took WKN Argentinian Super Light Heavyweight title. In addition, the event is featured on a busy schedule of combat sports events in Argentina, following Muay Thai Pan Americans, UFC Fight Night: Magny vs. Ponzinibbio and five series of Simply the Best Kickboxing held last year.
