Federico “The Little Big Man” Roma partakes in RISE knockout contest, Mar. 10 Tokyo
Argentinian kickboxing star Federico Roma is scheduled for his next bout on March 10 in Tokyo, Japan. Representing WKN Top Team “The Little Big Man” partakes in “RISE” 58 kg knockout tournament held at Ota City General Gymnasium, FIGHTMAG learned Wednesday. The roster of eight-man contest features Japanese Tenshin Nasukawa, a recent opponent of Floyd Mayweather.
Coached by Cristian Bosch at Dojo Serpientes in Buenos Aires, Federico Roma (63-4-1, 31 KO) is the World Kickboxing Network Super Bantamweight champion in two styles, oriental kickboxing (K-1 rules) and Muay Thai. His resume includes the wins against Tomasz Makowski, Tristan Gaetano, Nestor Machado, Israel Rangel, among others. Going through the ropes in Japan he represents Argentinian branch of WKN Top Team coordinated by Jorge Acero Cali and Fernando Munoz.
The collaboration between World Kickboxing Network and Japanese promotion RISE started in 2013 when Australian Danial “Mini T” Williams faced Dyki Miyagi at RISE 94.
Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa (28-0) tops the list of announced participants (via Facebook) of the upcoming contest. The reigning RISE Featherweight champion (57 kg) has been recently called out for an exhibition MMA bout by UFC star Conor McGregor. Although accepting the challenge, as understood, Japanese fighter is already booked for his next outing on March 10.
To win “RISE” contest the contender has to earn three victories in the format of single-elimination tournament going through quarter-final, semi-final and final. The names of seven out of eight participants have been announced today. The eighth fighter is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. The current lineup can be found below.
