Tenshin Nasukawa partakes in RISE knockout contest

Japanese kickboxer and mixed martial artist Tenshin Nasukawa has been making international headlines thanks to his encounter with boxing great Floyd Mayweather held on New Year’s Eve in Saitama. Although facing the first-round stoppage he remained undefeated as the matchup was only an exhibition bout.

The former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor recently called out Japanese sensation for an exhibition MMA bout. The latter accepted the challenge, yet, proposing to square off under kickboxing rules. He as well indicated a weight class with the limit of 58 kg.

Nevertheless the faceoff between “The Notorious” and a rising star out of Japan is unlikely to happen in the near future. Nasukawa has been announced for his next fight, which is scheduled for March 10 in Tokyo (via Twitter).

Going through the ropes in front of his home crowd, Tenshin Nasukawa partakes in the eight-man tournament (59 kg) held by RISE promotion. The contest features international kickboxers battling it out in a knockout contest.

Two-style World Kickboxing Network super bantamweight champion Federico Roma of Argentina is among the participants of the upcoming event, FIGHTMAG reported earlier this week.

Seven out of eight competitors have been announced to date. The eighth fighter is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. The current lineup can be found below.
