WKN Malta: Gladiators Fight Night 22
The World Kickboxing Network returns to Malta with the next edition of Gladiators Fight Night scheduled for February 24, the organization announced Friday. The event follows a previous promotion held last July when local Christopher Rotin earned WKN International Welterweight title by a unanimous decision against Aris Antoni of Greece.
An upcoming show is expected to feature as many as seven championship bouts. Three contests are set under professional kickboxing rules, following four amateur matchups.
Among the bouts Faris Lukovic is lined up to challenge for WKN European pro-amateur title in the super light heavyweight class. The name of his opponent is yet to be announced.
The current roster of Maltese kickboxers includes Keith Azzopardi, Piscopo Jesred, Christopher Rotin, among others. The most famous competitor is Daniel “The Jet” Zahra, who has become the first in history kickboxing world champion from Malta, when he won WKN World Lightweight title against Portuguese Bruno Torres in 2013.
A complete lineup for Gladiators Fight Night 22 is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
In addition World Kickboxing Network announced French Akram Hamidi to make his first defense of WKN European Bantamweight title on April 6 in Bitche (commune in north-eastern France). The Frenchman earned the belt against Maltese-Italian Samuel Andolina last December in Strasbourg taking the second-round TKO win. His next opponent is yet to be named.
