Prokick kickboxing at Stormont Hotel Belfast

The World Kickboxing Network makes its first visit to Northern Ireland this year with the next edition of Billy Murray promotion held at Stormont Hotel in Belfast on February 23. The “made in Prokick” event continues the series of shows featuring local fighters up against international opponents battling it out for WKN World and subordinate titles.

Welterweight Johnny ‘Swift’ Smith continues his quest to become a professional world champion as he tops the fight-bill. The name of fighter squaring off against the representative of the country-host has been recently announced, with Christos Venizelou of Cyprus taking the spot.

“Smith will face Muay Thai champion Christos Venizelou. The Cypriot, Venizelou has a fight record of 13 fights with only 2 defeats. The Bangor man Smith is on hoping to make this his seventh straight win as a professional,” reads the announcement.

Venizelou is the following fighter out of Cyprus going through the ropes in Belfast. His country-fellow Periklis Filippou took on “Swift” Smith last October when the former stopped his opponent in Round 2. On the other hand, in June 2018 Nikolas Konstantinou defeated local Darren McMullan by TKO in Round 1 (cut).

The lineup of the upcoming ProKick show is also expected to feature a series of amateur and junior matchups. More information is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
