The World Kickboxing Network visits south of France on March 30 with international promotion held in the city Nimes, the organization announced Friday. The event billed as “Boxing Fighters System” is the sixth WKN show scheduled in the country for 2019, among 15 events announced to date in total.
In 2000’s Nimes has been considered as one of the strongest kickboxing cities in France with such champion as Samir Mohamed representing. One of the recent names emerged internationally is WKN European Middleweight champion Karim Benmansour competing in GLORY World Series.
“Under Team Cabrera based in Nimes we have built around 10 pro-world champions and 20 European. Back then they were some of the most famous fighters in France,” WKN President Stephane Cabrera told FIGHTMAG in 2014.
An upcoming BFS event is presented by the former World Champions Habib Bakir and Olivier Cerdan. The fight card is expected to feature the A-list local fighters going up against international competitors coming from Poland, Italy, Switzerland and Spain. More information is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The list of other French places that World Kickboxing Network visits this year includes Les Mureaux, Villejuif, Bitche, Orchies and Nice. The current WKN event calendar can be found here.
