WKN Northern Ireland: Prokick Belfast

The World Kickboxing Network visits Northern Ireland on February 23 with the next edition of “made-in Prokick” event held at Stormont Hotel Belfast. The fight bill presented by Billy Murray features a series of international bouts with local and international competitors coming from Cyprus, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland, Scotland and England.

In the main event the representative of the country-host Johnny Smith takes on Cypriot Christos Venizelou. The WKN International Welterweight matchup is scheduled for three rounds in oriental kickboxing (K-1 rules).

In addition to the previously announced lineup, the roster was topped up by some of the leading fighters representing Prokick Gym Belfast.

Among the bouts, Rowena Bolt faces Italian Maura Scano in the three-round women’s kickboxing bout at catchweight with the limit of 50 kg.

In her previous outing last October Bolt went head to head with another Italian fighter Valentina De Santis, declaring a unanimous draw. In June 2018 the Northern Irish kickboxer earned WKN International women’s flyweight title scoring the third-round TKO win against Maltese Diane Schembri.

Bolt’s teammate Matthew Kerr goes up against Thomas Poullain of Switzerland. The 71 kg catchweight bout is also scheduled for three rounds.

Kerr is coming of a unanimous decision win scored against Scottish Shane Weir at the previous Prokick show. The latter is also featured on the upcoming fight card taking on Swiss Killian Emery in the three-round 67 kg bout.
