WKN Northern Ireland: International Kickboxing made-in Prokick
The World Kickboxing Network is back to Northern Ireland tonight (Feb. 23) with the night of international kickboxing held at Stormont Hotel in Belfast. The “made-in Prokick” event presented by Billy Murray features a series of bouts with some of the leading representatives of the country-host up against international competitors.
In the main event local Johnny Smith takes on Christos Venizelou of Cyprus. The welterweight bout is scheduled for three rounds in oriental kickboxing (K-1 rules).
At the official weigh-in ceremony conducted on Friday “Swift” Smith tipped the scales at 70 kg. The Cypriot fighter came in 1.2 kg over weight showing 71.2 kg. He was given extra time to make the required limit and weighed-in at 70.5 kg on the second attempt. The bout proceeds as scheduled.
Also on the main card Rowena Bolt faces Italian Maura Scano in the scheduled for three rounds 50 kg catchweight bout. In addition, Matthew Kerr goes up against Swiss Thomas Poullain at 71 kg matchup, and Swiss Killian Emery meets Scottish Shane Weir at 67 kg battle.
